Mary Belcher - The Legacy Continues

1300 Block of U Street, NW1300 Block of U Street, N.W.

Much of this block has been razed, including its biggest draw, the Republic Theatre. Novelist Jean Toomer lived at 1341 U with his grandfather, former Louisiana Governor P.B.S. Pinchback; the comedian S.H. Dudley lived at 1316.
